18 And he answered, “I have not troubled Israel; but you have, and your father's house, because you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals.

And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took for wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshiped him.


He erected an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.


(There was none who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord like Ahab, whom Jezebel his wife incited.


He did very abominably in going after idols, as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord cast out before the people of Israel.)

For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had dealt wantonly in Judah and had been faithless to the Lord.


He who is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.


Misfortune pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous.


Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them.


The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is caught in the toils of his sin.


Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have done shall be done to him.


for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
