Joshua 7:3 - New International Reader's Version

3 Then they returned to Joshua. They said, “The whole army doesn’t have to go up and attack Ai. Send only two or three thousand men. They can take the city. Don’t make the whole army go up there. Only a few people live in Ai.”

People who refuse to work want things and get nothing. But the desires of people who work hard are completely satisfied.


Some people will die while they are still hungry. That’s because their hands refuse to work.


“Try very hard to enter through the narrow door. I tell you, many will try to enter and will not be able to.


So let us make every effort to enjoy that rest. Then no one will die by disobeying as they did.


Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai. Ai is near Beth Aven east of Bethel. Joshua told the men, “Go up and check out the area around Ai.” So the men went up and checked it out.


So only about 3,000 troops went up. But the men of Ai drove them away.


My brothers and sisters, try very hard to show that God has appointed you to be saved. Try hard to show that he has chosen you. If you do everything I have just said, you will never trip and fall.


So you should try very hard to add goodness to your faith. To goodness, add knowledge.
