When evening came, the disciples  approached him and said, ‘This place is deserted, and it is already late.  Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.’


Now Jesus began to go all over Galilee,  teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every  disease and sickness  among the people.


When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected,  like sheep without a shepherd.


When he went ashore, he saw a large crowd and had compassion  on them, because they were like sheep  without a shepherd. Then he began to teach them many things.


‘And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy  him. But if you can do anything, have compassion  on us and help us.’


As he approached and saw the city, he wept  for it,


When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her  and said, ‘Don’t weep.’


Therefore, he had to be like his brothers and sisters in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in matters  pertaining to God, to make atonement  , for the sins of the people.


For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are,  yet without sin.


He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he is also clothed with weakness.
