There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, yet is not washed from its filth.


They say, “Keep to yourself, don’t come near me, for I am too holy for you! ” These practices are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all day long.


You who tremble at his word, hear the word of the  Lord: ‘Your brothers who hate and exclude you for my name’s sake have said, “Let the Lord be glorified so that we can see your joy! ” But they will be put to shame.’


The priest will re-examine the condition on the seventh day. If the scaly outbreak has not spread and there is no yellow hair in it and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin,


But wanting to justify himself,  he asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour? ’


And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, ‘This man welcomes sinners  and eats with them.’


And he told them, ‘You are the ones who justify   yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts.   For what is highly admired by people is revolting   in God’s sight.


The Pharisee was standing   and praying like this about himself:   “God, I thank you that I’m not like other people #– #greedy,   unrighteous,   adulterers,   or even like this tax collector.


All who saw it began to complain,  ‘He’s gone to stay with a sinful man.’


When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, ‘This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him #– #she’s a sinner! ’


The Jews responded to him, ‘Aren’t we right in saying that you’re a Samaritan  and have a demon? ’


They ridiculed him: ‘You’re that man’s disciple, but we’re Moses’s  disciples.


‘You were born entirely in sin,’  they replied, ‘and are you trying to teach us? ’ Then they threw him out.


‘He said to me, “Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.”  ’


Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God  and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness.


But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgement seat of God.  ,


One who eats must not look down on one who does not eat,  and one who does not eat must not judge one who does,  because God has accepted him.


Once I was alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life again
