Leviticus 16:21 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

21 Aaron will lay both his hands on the head of the live goat and confess  over it all the Israelites’ iniquities  and rebellious acts #– #all their sins.  He is to put them on the goat’s head and send it away into the wilderness  by the man appointed for the task.

While Ezra prayed and confessed, weeping and falling face down  before the house of God, an extremely large assembly of Israelite men, women, and children gathered around him. The people also wept bitterly.


‘You are to bring the bull to the front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons must lay their hands on the bull’s head.


The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.


We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished him for  the iniquity  of us all.


He is to lay his hand on  the head of the burnt offering so it can be accepted  on his behalf to make atonement for him.


‘When he has finished making atonement for the most holy place, the tent of meeting, and the altar, he is to present the live male goat.


The goat will carry all their iniquities into a desolate land,  and the man will release it there.


‘But when they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their ancestors #– #their unfaithfulness that they practised against me, and how they acted with hostility towards me,


If someone incurs guilt in one of these cases, he is to confess  he has committed that sin.


One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.


He made the one who did not know sin  to be sin  for us,  so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
