It stood on twelve oxen,  three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The basin was on top of them and all their hindquarters were towards the centre.


Solomon left all the utensils unweighed because there were so many; the weight of the bronze was not determined.


As for the two pillars, the one basin, and the water carts that Solomon had made for the Lord’s temple, the weight of the bronze of all these articles was beyond measure.


‘Notice I have taken great pains to provide for the house of the Lord  #– #3,450 tonnes of gold, 34,500 tonnes of silver,  , and bronze and iron that can’t be weighed because there is so much of it. I have also provided timber and stone, but you will need to add more to them.


Solomon made all these utensils in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze was not determined.


Now the Chaldeans broke into pieces the bronze pillars for the Lord’s temple and the water carts and the bronze basin  that were in the Lord’s temple,  and they carried all the bronze to Babylon.
