Then Jacob became incensed and brought charges against Laban. ‘What is my crime? ’ he said to Laban. ‘What is my sin, that you have pursued me?


If anyone returns evil for good, evil will never depart from his house.


It is certainly not good to fine an innocent person or to beat a noble for his honesty.  ,


Did King Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of Judah put him to death? Did not the king fear the Lord and plead for the Lord’s favour,  , and did not the Lord relent concerning the disaster he had pronounced against them?  We are about to bring a terrible disaster on ourselves! ’


My God sent his angel  and shut the lions’ mouths; and they haven’t harmed me, for I was found innocent before him. And also before you, Your Majesty, I have not done harm.’


Jesus replied, ‘I have shown you many good works   from the Father. For which of these works are you stoning me? ’


Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, ‘Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience  to this day.’


I always strive to have a clear conscience  towards God and men.


If then I did anything wrong and am deserving of death, I am not trying to escape death; but if there is nothing to what these men accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar! ’


I found that he had not done anything deserving of death, but when he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.


Then Paul made his defence: ‘Neither against the Jewish law,  nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I sinned in any way.’


and when they had left they talked with each other and said, ‘This man is not doing anything to deserve death or imprisonment.’


So then, have I become your enemy because I told you the truth?
