11 However, when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon marched into the land,  we said, “Come, let’s go into Jerusalem to get away from the Chaldean and Aramean armies.” So we have been living in Jerusalem.’

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah:


Why are we just sitting here? Gather together; let’s enter the fortified cities and perish there, for the Lord our God has destroyed   us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the  Lord.


‘When you see the abomination of desolation   , standing where it should not be’ (let the reader understand), ‘then those in Judea   must flee to the mountains.
