and the rain fell on the earth for forty days and forty nights.


Seven days from now I will make it rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and every living thing I have made I will wipe off the face of the earth.’

Who has the wisdom to number the clouds? Or who can tilt the water jars of heaven


when he placed the skies above, when the fountains of the ocean gushed out,


When you threw me into the depths, into the heart of the seas, the current  overcame me. All your breakers and your billows swept over me.


For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command.  I say to this one, “Go,” and he goes; and to another, “Come,” and he comes; and to my servant, “Do this! ” and he does it.’
