He made Joseph ride in his second chariot, and servants called out before him, ‘Make way! ’  So he placed him over all the land of Egypt.


When the virgins  were gathered a second time, Mordecai was sitting at the King’s Gate.


During those days while Mordecai was sitting at the King’s Gate, Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs  who guarded the entrance, became infuriated and planned to assassinate  King Ahasuerus.


In the fortress of Susa, there was a Jewish man named Mordecai  son of Jair, son of Shimei,  son of Kish,  a Benjaminite.


After all this took place, King Ahasuerus honoured Haman, son of Hammedatha the Agagite.  He promoted him in rank and gave him a higher position than all the other officials.


The members of the royal staff at the King’s Gate asked Mordecai, ‘Why are you disobeying the king’s command? ’


When Haman saw that Mordecai was not bowing down or paying him homage, he was filled with rage.


That day Haman left full of joy and in good spirits.  , But when Haman saw Mordecai at the King’s Gate, and Mordecai didn’t rise or tremble in fear at his presence, Haman was filled with rage towards Mordecai.


The Lord then said to Moses, ‘Write this down on a scroll as a reminder and recite it to Joshua: I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek under heaven.’


He said, ‘Indeed, my hand is lifted up towards  the Lord’s throne. The Lord will be at war with Amalek from generation to generation.’


At Daniel’s request, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego  to manage the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king’s court.


When the Lord your God gives you rest  from all the enemies around you in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,  blot out the memory of Amalek under heaven. Do not forget.


so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow   – in heaven  and on earth and under the earth   –


Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have.  Do not spare them. Kill men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.” ’
