my God,  my rock where I seek refuge. My shield, the horn of my salvation,  my stronghold,  my refuge, and my Saviour, you save me from violence.


However, Elisha said to King Joram of Israel, ‘What do we have in common? Go to the prophets of your father and your mother! ’ But the king of Israel replied, ‘No, because it is the Lord who has summoned these three kings to hand them over to Moab.’


‘Do not make a treaty with the inhabitants of the land, or else when they prostitute themselves with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, they will invite you, and you will eat their sacrifices.


His rock  will pass away because of fear, and his officers will be afraid because of the signal flag. This is the Lord’s declaration #– #whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.


Then the cities of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods they have been burning incense to, but they certainly will not save them in their time of disaster.


But where are your gods you made for yourself? Let them rise up and save you in your time of disaster if they can, for your gods are as numerous as your cities, Judah.


Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, claiming, “The king of Babylon will not come against you and this land”?


Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen.  Let them deliver you whenever you are oppressed.’
