35 Even to the day of his death, Samuel never saw Saul again.  Samuel mourned for Saul,  and the Lord regretted he had made Saul king over Israel.

And Saul’s daughter Michal had no child to the day of her death.


For I have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross  of Christ.


‘I regret that I made Saul king,  for he has turned away from following me and has not carried out my instructions.’  So Samuel became angry and cried out to the Lord all night.


The Lord said to Samuel, ‘How long are you going to mourn for Saul,  since I have rejected him as king over Israel?  Fill your horn with oil  and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem  because I have selected for myself a king from his sons.’


Saul then removed his clothes and also prophesied before Samuel; he collapsed and lay naked  all that day and all that night. That is why they say, ‘Is Saul also among the prophets? ’
