A generation goes and a generation comes, but the earth remains for ever.


Give a portion to seven or even to eight, for you don’t know what disaster may happen on earth.


‘Be on your guard,   so that your minds are not dulled   from carousing,   drunkenness,   and worries of life,   or that day will come on you unexpectedly


This is what I mean, brothers and sisters: The time is limited,  so from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none,


those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice  as though they did not rejoice, those who buy as though they didn’t own anything,


What then is my reward? To preach the gospel and offer it free of charge and not make full use of my rights in the gospel.


This expression, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of what can be shaken   #– #that is, created things #– #so that what is not shaken might remain.


Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring #– #what your life will be! For you are like vapour that appears for a little while, then vanishes.


For All flesh is like grass, and all its glory   like a flower of the grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,


The end of all things is near;  therefore, be alert and sober-minded  for prayer.


And the world with its lust is passing away,  but the one who does the will of God  remains for ever.
