and do not let Ḥizqiyahu make you trust in יהוה, saying, “יהוה shall certainly deliver us, and this city is not given into the hand of the sovereign of Ashshur.” ’
“And vain men gathered to him, sons of Beliya‛al, and strengthened themselves against Reḥaḇ‛am son of Shelomoh, when Reḥaḇ‛am was young and tender of heart and could not be strong against them.
And He said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot wickedness and give evil counsel in this city,
Woe to those plotting wickedness, and working out evil upon their beds! In the light of the morning they practise it, because it is in the might of their hand.
What do you plot against יהוה? He makes a complete end of it. Distress does not rise up a second time.
And the sons of Ěli were sons of Beliya‛al – they did not know יהוה.
