“But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.


And Yoḥanan had a garment of camel’s hair, and a leather girdle around his waist. And his food was locusts and wild honey.


“But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft garments? Look, those who are splendidly dressed and living in luxury are in the houses of sovereigns.


Until the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are scantily clad, and beaten, and homeless,


in toil and hardship, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness,


The man among you who is tender, and who is very delicate, his eye is evil against his brother, against the wife of his bosom, and against the rest of his children whom he leaves behind,”


“And I shall give unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clad in sackcloth.”
