And these are the names of the twelve emissaries: first, Shim‛on, who is called Kĕpha, and Andri his brother; Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Zaḇdai, and Yoḥanan his brother;
Philip and Bartholomi; T’oma and Mattithyahu the tax collector; Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Alphai, and Laḇai whose last name was Taddai;
And יהושע, walking by the Sea of Galil, saw two brothers, Shim‛on called Kĕpha, and Andri his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
And going on from there, He saw two other brothers, Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Zaḇdai, and Yoḥanan his brother, in the boat with Zaḇdai their father, mending their nets. And He called them,
And having gone on a little from there, He saw Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Zaḇdai, and Yoḥanan his brother, and they were in the boat mending their nets.
And coming out of the congregation, they went straight to the house of Shim‛on and Andri, with Ya‛aqoḇ and Yoḥanan.
And He took with Him Kĕpha, and Ya‛aqoḇ, and Yoḥanan, and He began to be greatly amazed, and to be deeply distressed.
And He appointed the twelve: Shim‛on, to whom He added the name Kĕpha;
And He allowed no one to follow Him except Kĕpha, and Ya‛aqoḇ, and Yoḥanan the brother of Ya‛aqoḇ.
And after six days יהושע took Kĕpha, and Ya‛aqoḇ, and Yoḥanan, and led them up on a high mountain alone by themselves. And He was transformed before them.
so too were Ya‛aqoḇ and Yoḥanan, the sons of Zaḇdai, who were partners with Shim‛on. Then יהושע said to Shim‛on, “Do not fear, from now on you shall catch men.”
And when Shim‛on Kĕpha saw it, he fell down at the knees of יהושע, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a man, a sinner, O Master!”
And when it became day, He called near His taught ones and chose from them twelve, whom He also named emissaries:
Mattithyahu and T’oma, Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Alphai and Shim‛on, the one called the Ardent One,
Philip found Nethan’ĕl and said to him, “We have found Him whom Mosheh wrote of in the Torah, and the prophets: יהושע of Natsareth – the son of Yosĕph.”
Philip said to Him, “Master, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
Then יהושע, lifting up His eyes and seeing a large crowd coming toward Him, said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for them to eat?”
One of His taught ones, Andri, the brother of Shim‛on Kĕpha, said to Him,
And when they came in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: both Kĕpha and Ya‛aqoḇ and Yoḥanan and Andri, Philip and T’oma, Bartholomi and Mattithyahu, Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Alphai and Shim‛on the Zealot, and Yehuḏah the son of Ya‛aqoḇ.
