Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before esteem is humility.


Proud, haughty, “Scoffer” is his name; He acts with arrogant pride.


There is a generation; Oh, how haughty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.

We have heard of the pride of Mo’aḇ – very proud – of his pride, his arrogance and his rage. His boastings are not true.


Now I, Neḇuḵaḏnetstsar, am praising and exalting and esteeming the Sovereign of the heavens, for all His works are truth, and His ways right. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.


For everyone who is exalting himself shall be humbled, and he who is humbling himself shall be exalted.


But He gives greater favour. Because of this He says, “Elohim resists the proud, but gives favour to the humble.”
