The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, A good report gives marrow to the bones.


A good name is preferable to great riches. Favour is better than silver and gold.


Lest he who hears it put you to shame, And your evil report turn not back.


Ointment and perfume gladden the heart, So one’s counsel is sweet to his friend.


Dead flies make the perfumer’s ointment stink, ferment; a little folly outweighs wisdom, esteem.


Therefore I commended the dead who were already dead, more than the living who are still alive.


The end of a matter is better than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
