See, I am standing before you there on the rock in Ḥorĕḇ. And you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people shall drink. And Mosheh did so before the eyes of the elders of Yisra’ĕl.


And Mosheh was shepherding the flock of Yithro his father-in-law, the priest of Miḏyan. And he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to Ḥorĕḇ, the mountain of Elohim.


Whether two days, or a new moon or a year that the cloud lingered above the Dwelling Place to dwell upon it, the children of Yisra’ĕl camped, and did not depart. But when it was taken up, they departed.


Beyond the Yardĕn, in the land of Mo’aḇ, Mosheh undertook to declare this Torah, saying,


according to all you asked of יהוה your Elohim in Ḥorĕḇ in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of יהוה my Elohim, nor let me see this great fire any more, lest I die.’


“יהוה our Elohim made a covenant with us in Ḥorĕḇ.


“Even in Ḥorĕḇ you made יהוה wroth, so that יהוה was enraged with you, to destroy you.
