And he said to his servants, “See, Yo’aḇ’s field is near mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire.” And Aḇshalom’s servants set the field on fire.
And the sovereign said to him, “Go in peace.” And he rose up and went to Ḥeḇron.
and Aḇshalom, whom we anointed over us, has died in battle. And now, why are you silent about bringing back the sovereign?”
And it came to be afterwards that Dawiḏ inquired of יהוה, saying, “Do I go up to any of the cities of Yehuḏah?” And יהוה said to him, “Go up.” And Dawiḏ said, “Where should I go up?” And He said, “To Ḥeḇron.”
And the time that Dawiḏ was sovereign in Ḥeḇron over the house of Yehuḏah was seven years and six new moons.
In Ḥeḇron he reigned over Yehuḏah seven years and six new moons, and in Yerushalayim he reigned thirty-three years over all Yisra’ĕl and Yehuḏah.
Nathan then spoke to Bathsheḇa the mother of Shelomoh, saying, “Have you not heard that Aḏoniyahu son of Ḥaggith has become sovereign, and Dawiḏ our master does not know it?
“And there Tsaḏoq the priest and Nathan the prophet shall anoint him sovereign over Yisra’ĕl. And blow the shophar, and say, ‘Let Sovereign Shelomoh live!’
And they hurried, and each one took his garment and put it under him on the top of the steps. And they blew with the shophar, saying, “Yĕhu reigns!”
So all the elders of Yisra’ĕl came to the sovereign at Ḥeḇron, and Dawiḏ made a covenant with them at Ḥeḇron before יהוה. And they anointed Dawiḏ sovereign over Yisra’ĕl, according to the word of יהוה by Shemu’ĕl.
And these were the numbers of the chiefs of those that were armed for battle, and came to Dawiḏ at Ḥeḇron to turn over the reign of Sha’ul to him, according to the word of יהוה:
All these men of battle, keeping rank, came to Ḥeḇron with a perfect heart, to set up Dawiḏ to reign over all Yisra’ĕl. And all the rest of Yisra’ĕl were of one heart to set up Dawiḏ to reign.
