And from all their borders the priests and the Lĕwites who were in all Yisra’ĕl took their stand with him.
And after the Lĕwites left, those from all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl, such as set their heart to seek יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, came to Yerushalayim to slaughter to יהוה Elohim of their fathers.
But a man of Elohim came to him, saying, “O sovereign, do not let the army of Yisra’ĕl go with you, for יהוה is not with Yisra’ĕl, with all the children of Ephrayim.
and the priests slew them, and with their blood made a sin offering on the slaughter-place, to make an atonement for all Yisra’ĕl, for the sovereign said that the ascending offering and the sin offering is for all Yisra’ĕl.
And Ḥizqiyahu and all the people rejoiced that Elohim had prepared the people, because the matter came about so suddenly.
But the sovereign and his leaders and all the assembly in Yerushalayim had taken counsel to perform the Pĕsaḥ in the second new moon.
“And slay the Pĕsaḥ, and set yourselves apart, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of יהוה by the hand of Mosheh.”
And these are the words of the letter which Yirmeyah the prophet sent from Yerushalayim to the rest of the elders of the exile, and to the priests, and to the prophets and to all the people whom Neḇuḵaḏnetstsar had exiled from Yerushalayim to Baḇel –
“How could I give you up, Ephrayim? How could I hand you over, Yisra’ĕl? How could I make you like Aḏmah? How could I set you like Tseḇoyim? My heart turns within Me, all My compassion is kindled.
“Their deeds do not allow them to turn back to their Elohim, for the spirit of whorings is among them, and they do not know יהוה.
For the children of Yosĕph had become two tribes: Menashsheh and Ephrayim. And they gave no part to the Lĕwites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their open land for their livestock and their possessions.
