Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he shows favor.
“Let all their evil-doing come before thee; and deal with them as thou hast dealt with me because of all my transgressions; for my groans are many and my heart is faint.”
Ephraim has given bitter provocation; so his Lord will leave his bloodguilt upon him, and will turn back upon him his reproaches.
