You ask, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord was witness to the covenant between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.


“For I hate divorce, says the Lord the God of Israel, and covering one's garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless.”

What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.”


Thus a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives; but if her husband dies she is discharged from the law concerning the husband.


Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.


Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.
