“For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before me, says the Lord; so shall your descendants and your name remain.
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’
And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity!’
And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them.
If any one serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; if any one serves me, the Father will honor him.
Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!”
“Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word.
And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.’
but now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly elemental spirits, whose slaves you want to be once more?
