And this was so, because the people of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods
And Isaiah the prophet cried to the Lord; and he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which the sun had declined on the dial of Ahaz.
“And thou didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt and hear their cry at the Red Sea,
Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go on dry ground through the sea.
So Moses cried to the Lord, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
The Lord said to Joshua, “Arise, why have you thus fallen upon your face?
