Come now, curse this people for me, since they are too mighty for me; perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them from the land; for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”


Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,


And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.


But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent me.


And they will do this because they have not known the Father, nor me.


They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and you will see that no prophet is to rise from Galilee.”


For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him.


as the high priest and the whole council of elders bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brethren, and I journeyed to Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished.


“I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things in opposing the name of Jesus of Nazareth.


And they said to him, “We have received no letters from Judea about you, and none of the brethren coming here has reported or spoken any evil about you.


saying to Aaron, ‘Make for us gods to go before us; as for this Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’


God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?


None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.


But their minds were hardened; for to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.


they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart;


If it is to be life in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.


though I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and insulted him; but I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,
