And the watchman saw another man running; and the watchman called to the gate and said, “See, another man running alone!” The king said, “He also brings tidings.”


Then the gatekeepers called out, and it was told within the king's household.


Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news; if we are silent and wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us; now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household.”


and with them their brethren of the second order, Zechariah, Ja-aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Ma-aseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Je-iel.


and also Obed-edom and his sixty-eight brethren; while Obed-edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were to be gatekeepers.


He stationed the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the Lord so that no one should enter who was in any way unclean.


Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
