‘The Hand of God’: Passenger lands plane when pilot passes out, says it was a miracle

A true miracle took place during a flight in which, through a very intelligent action of a passenger, all the people on board were saved after an incident that happened to the pilot.

‘The Hand of God’: Passenger lands plane when pilot passes out, says it was a miracle.

While on a flight in a single-engine airplane, 64-year-old pilot Kenneth Allen lost consciousness after saying he wasn’t feeling well; he suffered a tear in his aorta while piloting and for that fact, his passengers were about to die, until something totally unexpected happened.

A passenger by the name of Darren Harrison, was one of the passengers who noticed that the pilot was not well at all on that May 10, “He said, ‘I’ve got a headache and I’m fuzzy and I just don’t feel right.’And I said, ‘What do we need to do?’ and at that point he didn’t respond at all,” Harrison recalled during an interview with the Associated Press.

At the moment that Allen passed out, the plane started to go down but  Harrison’s brave action with a conscience focused on the protection of the passengers, and the pilot who needed to be treated urgently, he took control of the device and immediately got in contact with an air traffic controller in order to reach the ground safely.

“All I saw when I came up to the front was water out the right window and I knew it was coming quick. At that point, I knew if I didn’t react, that we would die. I also knew that at the rate we were going, we were going way too fast, and it would probably rip the wings off of the airplane,” he added, calling that “the scariest part of the whole story.”

Returning from The Bahamas, Harrison was able to land the plane.at the Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, despite all the fear he had, he decided to be strong for all the lives that were in danger.

“When I was flying and saw the state of Florida, at that second I knew I’m going to land there. I don’t know what the outcome’s going to be, I don’t know how it’s going to happen, but I knew I’m going to have to land this airplane because there’s no other option,” he said.

“People said what if you had crashed and died?” he continued. “You could have at least called her, you could have reached out to her, you had time. In my mind I knew I wasn’t going to die, and the thought never crossed my mind to call and tell my wife ‘bye.’”

But the story reaches its best point when among so many maneuvers that he never thought to do, he felt that “The Hand of God” was with him at that moment; the plane stopped and his emotions surfaced for the moment and reviewing everything he had just experienced he knew that everything had been a miracle.

“The biggest prayer I’ve ever said in my life.” Looking back, he said the “hand of God” was with him. The last part of the prayer and the strongest part,” Harrison added, “was for the guy in the back, because I knew it was not a good situation.”

“I mean, the story is a miracle after a miracle, really. You know, for him to be able to survive the event, an acute type-A dissection is really acute, it is hyperacute, it happens suddenly,” he detailed about the pilot, who will be discharged next week due to his stable condition.
