During a recent protest in Milwaukee in the state of Wisconsin (USA), after the unfair murder of George Floyd, an army of protesters marched while singing the popular Christian song “Way Maker”.
George Floyd’s death has sparked violent unjustifiable riots as well as peaceful protests across the country.
While the riots and violence are receiving a lot of attention, it is also important to know that there are reasons to keep hope alive, because not all protests are related to violence.
And talking about violence, even Mr. Floyd’s own family calls for it to stop. Mr. Floyd’s younger brother Terrence told ABC News, “Anger … damaging his hometown is not the way he would like it.”
“It’s okay to be angry, but channel your anger to do something positive or make a change in another way, because we are already on that path,” he added.
Also during a speech at a Minneapolis rally, Terrence said, “Do this peacefully, please.”
Award-winning artist Whoopi Goldberg has also called for an end to the violence. “More nights with scared children is not a good night,” she said.
