HORROR! Ring of red-light appears in the sky of Italy and causes fear in citizens

Italy saw a moment of terror a few days ago when a phenomenon filled its sky with a disturbing red ring, which became a trend on social media.

And although the natural phenomenon lasted only a few seconds, the inhabitants of various areas of Italy saw the red ring that appeared in the sky; The image went viral thanks to the photographer Valter Binotto on his Instagram account, he was located in Possagno, in the north of the country.

The event occurred at the end of March, but it was not until a few days ago that the photos revealed the TLE phenomenon, which consists of  an “emission of light and very low-frequency perturbations due to electromagnetic pulse sources.”

This phenomenon is a very unusual event to see in Italy or anywhere in the world.

The size of this ring was about 360 kilometers in diameter, so surely they also saw it in other places in the Adriatic Sea, located in the Italian peninsula.

«The photo shows an Elf. It is a rare species of Sprite discovered in 1990 by cameras aboard the Space Shuttle and that forms on electrical storms with very powerful lightning. The red ring marks the point at which the pulse reached Earth’s ionosphere. A normal lightning strike carries between 10 and 30 kiloamperes of current. This lightning was about 10 times stronger than normal,» Binotto wrote in the description of his images.

According to what experts report, this ring was produced more than 100 kilometers from the ground, when charged electron particles made contact with nitrogen atoms.

The ring-shaped reddish glow was likely produced more than 100 kilometers from Earth’s ground when charged particles, such as electrons, came into contact with nitrogen atoms.

These rare phenomena and its short duration make it difficult to observe or capture with a common camera, but according to Spaceweather.com, the image obtained by Valter Vinotto could be “the best ever taken of a TLE from Earth.”

For the photographer it is already part of his work, since he has been capturing this type of phenomenon since 2019, but he assures that the most recent  is “one of the biggest structures” he has ever seen.
