Nevertheless, because thou hast given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, for this thing, the child that is born to thee shall surely die.


And suborn two men, sons of Belial against him: and let them bear false witness that he hath blasphemed God and the king: and then carry him out, and stone him and so let him die.


And bringing two men, sons of the devil, they made them sit against him. And they, like men of the devil, bore witness against him before the people, saying: Naboth hath blasphemed God and the king. Wherefore they brought him forth without the city, and stoned him to death.


Neither let him make you trust in the Lord, saying: The Lord will surely deliver us; and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of the Assyrians.


Who are they among all the gods of the nations, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the Lord may deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?


And Eliacim the son of Helcias, who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and Joahe the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Ezechias, with their garments rent, and told him the words of Rabsaces.


Thus shall you say to Ezechias king of Juda: Let not thy God deceive thee, in whom thou trustest. And do not say: Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.


Whom hast thou reproached, and whom hast thou blasphemed? Against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thy eyes on high? Against the holy one of Israel.


And Isaias said to them: Thus shall you say to your master: Thus saith the Lord: Be not afraid for the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of the Assyrians have blasphemed me.


But stretch forth thy hand a little, and touch all that he hath; and see if he blesseth thee not to thy face.


In all these things Job sinned not by his lips; nor spoke he any foolish thing against God.


And when the days of their feasting were gone about, Job sent to them, and sanctified them: and rising up early offered holocausts for every one of them. For he said: Lest perhaps my sons have sinned, and have blessed God in their hearts. So did Job all days.


But put forth thy hand, and touch his bone and his flesh: and then thou shalt see that he will bless thee to thy face.


Who may judge the people at all times. And when any great matter soever shall fall out, let them refer it to thee, and let them judge the lesser matters only: that so it may be lighter for thee, the burden being shared out unto others.


And they judged the people at all times: and whatsoever was of greater difficulty they referred to him: and they judged the easier cases only.


Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that shall take the name of the Lord his God in vain.


Thou shalt not speak ill of the gods: and the prince of thy people thou shalt not curse.


And God said again to Moses: Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me to you. This is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.


And they shall pass by it; they shall fall, and be hungry. And when they shall be hungry, they will be angry, and curse their king and their God, and look upwards.


And, behold, there went out the son of a woman of Israel, whom she had of an Egyptian, among the children of Israel: and fell at words in the camp with a man of Israel.


Then the high priests rent his garments, saying: He hath blasphemed; what further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy:


(For the name of God through you is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.)


Who before was a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and contumelious. But I obtained the mercy of God, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.


And they blasphemed the God of heaven, because of their pains and wounds, and did not penance for their works.


And great hail, like a talent, came down from heaven upon men: and men blasphemed God for the plague of the hail: because it was exceeding great.
