The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Mary. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abiu, Eleazar and Ithamar.


And all the souls that came out of Jacob's thigh, were seventy: but Joseph was in Egypt.


And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, in the very top of the mount: and he called Moses unto the top thereof. And when he was gone up thither,


And the Lord said to him: Go, get thee down. And thou shalt come up, thou and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people pass the limits, nor come up to the Lord, lest he kill them.


The Lord said to him: Lo, now will I come to thee in the darkness of a cloud, that the people may hear me speaking to thee, and may believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people to the Lord.


And the people stood afar off. But Moses went to the dark cloud wherein God was.


And when Moses was gone up, a cloud covered the mount.


And Moses alone shall come up to the Lord; but they shall not come nigh: neither shall the people come up with him.


Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abiu, and seventy of the ancients of Israel went up.


Take unto thee also Aaron thy brother with his sons, from among the children of Israel, that they may minister to me in the priest's office: Aaron, Nadab, and Abiu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.


And he said: Come not nigh hither. Put off the shoes from thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.


Be ready in the morning, that thou mayst forthwith go up into mount Sinai: and thou shalt stand with me upon the top of the mount.


And Aaron took to wife Elizabeth the daughter of Aminadab, sister of Nahason, who bore him Nadab, and Abiu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.


And seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel and Jezonias the son of Saaphan stood in the midst of them that stood before the pictures. And every one had a censer in his hand: and a cloud of smoke went up from the incense.


And the Lord said to Moses: Gather unto me seventy men of the ancients of Israel, whom thou knowest to be ancients and masters of the people. And thou shalt bring them to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant: and shalt make them stand there with thee,


AND after these things the Lord appointed also other seventy-two: and he sent them two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself was to come.


And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying: Lord, the devils also are subject to us in thy name.


And I took out of your tribes men wise and honourable, and appointed them rulers, tribunes, and centurions, and officers over fifties, and over tens, who might teach you all things.
