And in the ninth year of Osee, the king of the Assyrians took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria. And he placed them in Hala and Habor by the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.


Their infants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes, their houses shall be pillaged, and their wives shall be ravished.


He will crown thee with a crown of tribulation: he will toss thee like a ball into a large and spacious country. There shalt thou die: and there shall the chariot of thy glory be, the shame of the house of thy Lord.


And the people to whom they prophecy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and there shall be none to bury them, they and their wives, their sons and their daughters. And I will pour out their wickedness upon them.


But thou, Phassur, and all that dwell in thy house, shall go into captivity. And thou shalt go to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there thou shalt be buried, thou and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied a lie.


And Jeremias the prophet went his way. And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, after that Hananias the prophet had broken the chain from off the neck of Jeremias the prophet, saying:


Therefore, thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will send thee away from off the face of the earth: this year shalt thou die. For thou hast spoken against the Lord.


Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to Achab the son of Colias and to Sedecias the son of Maasias, who prophesy unto you in my name falsely: Behold, I will deliver them up into the hands of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon. And he shall kill them before your eyes.


Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because thou hast sent letters in thy name to all the people that are in Jerusalem and to Sophonias the son of Maasias the priest and to all the priests, saying:


They oppressed the women in Sion and the virgins in the cities of Juda.


And the Lord said: So shall the children of Israel eat their bread all filthy among the nations whither I will cast them out.


They shall not dwell in the Lord's land: Ephraim is returned to Egypt, and hath eaten unclean things among the Assyrians.


Wherefore now they shall go captive at the head of them that go into captivity: and the faction of the luxurious ones shall be taken away.


For thus saith Amos: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall be carried away captive out of their own land.


These things the Lord shewed to me: and behold a hook to draw down the fruit.


I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and he said: Strike the hinges, and let the lintels be shook: for there is covetousness in the head of them all, and I will slay the last of them with the sword: there shall be no flight for them: they shall flee, and he that shall flee of them shall not be delivered.


Behold the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth: but yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.


Make thee bald, and be polled for thy delicate children: enlarge thy baldness as the eagle: for they are carried into captivity from thee.


And I will gather all nations to Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses shall be rifled, and the women shall be defiled: and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the rest of the people shall not be taken away out of the city.
