Perhaps thou hast taken counsel, to prepare thyself for battle. On whom dost thou trust, that thou darest to rebel?


And the rest of the acts of Ezechias and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought waters into the city, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?


For the king, taking counsel, and the princes, and all the assembly of Jerusalem, decreed to keep the phase the second month.


And when Ezechias saw that Sennacherib was come, and that the whole force of the war was turning against Jerusalem,


This same Ezechias was he that stopped the upper source of the waters of Gihon, and turned them away underneath toward the west of the city of David. In all his works he did prosperously what he would.


He gathered together a very great multitude and they stopped up all the springs, and the brook, that ran through the midst of the land, saying: Lest the kings of the Assyrians should come, and find abundance of water.


Designs are brought to nothing where there is no counsel: but where there are many counsellors, they are established.


Designs are strengthened by counsels: and wars are to be managed by governments.


Because war is managed by due ordering: and there shall be safety where there are many counsels.


Who hath forwarded the spirit of the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor, and hath taught him?


Draw thee water for the siege, build up thy bulwarks: go into the clay, and tread, work it and make brick.


For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor?
