And there was war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel all their days.


Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the king's treasures, and sent to Benadad king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying:


And then Benadad heard this, he sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. And they took Ahion, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the walled cities of Nephtali.


And Achab king of Israel said to Josaphat king of Juda: Come with me to Ramoth Galaad. And he answered him: Thou art as I am, and my people as thy people, and we will be with thee in the war.


And Jehu the son of Hanani, the seer, met him and said to him: Thou helpest the ungodly; and thou art joined in friendship with them that hate the Lord: and therefore thou didst deserve indeed the wrath of the Lord.


Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.


And he said to Aaron: What has this people done to thee, that thou shouldst bring upon them a most heinous sin?


And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God saith: I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.


Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness,


On condition that you should not make a league with the inhabitants of this land, but should throw down their altars. And you would not hear my voice. Why have you done this?
