And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: if any man be able to number the dust of the earth, he shall be able to number thy seed also.


And he thought him forth abroad, and said to him: Look up to heaven, and number the stars, if thou canst. And he said to him: So shall thy seed be.


I will bless thee, and I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that is by the seashore. Thy seed shall possess the gates of their enemies.


Thou didst say that thou wouldst do well by me, and multiply my seed like the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for the multitude.


And thy servant is in the midst of the people which thou hast chosen, an immense people, which cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.


And God gave to Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart as the sand that is on the sea-shore.


My servants shall bring them down from Libanus to the sea. And I will put them together in floats in the sea, and convey them to the place, which thou shalt signify to me; and will land them there. And thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt allow me necessaries, to furnish food for my household.


Do not hearken to Ezechias. For thus saith the king of the Assyrians: Do with me that which is for your advantage, and come out to me. And every man of you shall eat of his own vineyard, and of his own fig-tree: and you shall drink water of your own cisterns,


And they were there with David three days eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.


The son, that shall be born to thee, shall be a most quiet man: for I will make him rest from all his enemies round about. And therefore he shall be called Peaceable: and I will give peace and quietness to Israel all his days.


He was yet speaking, and, behold, another came in, and said: Thy sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their elder brother.


In the multitude of people is the dignity of the king: and in the small number of people the dishonour of the prince.


Is it not better to eat and drink, and to shew his soul good things of his labours? and this is from the hand of God.


And, behold, joy and gladness, killing calves and slaying rams, eating flesh and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink; for to-morrow we shall die.


And every man shall sit under his vine, and under his fig tree, and there shall be none to make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken.


In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, every man shell call his friend under the vine and under the fig tree.


The Lord of hosts will protect them: and they shall devour, and subdue with the stones of the sling: and drinking they shall be inebriated as it were with wine, and they shall be filled as bowls, and as the horns of the altar.


And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart;


And when he had brought him, behold they were lying spread upon all the ground, eating and drinking, and as it were keeping a festival day, for all the prey, and the spoils which they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Juda.
