Joshua 9:21
9 交叉引用

The sound [of Egypt fleeing from the enemy] is like the rustling of an escaping serpent, for her foes advance with a mighty army and come against her with axes, like those who fell trees and cut wood.

All of you stand today before the Lord your God–your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,

Joshua made peace with them, covenanting with them to let them live, and the assembly's leaders swore to them.

This we will do to them: we will let them live, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath which we swore to them.

Now therefore you are cursed, and of you there shall always be slaves, hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.

But Joshua then made them hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, to this day, in the place which He should choose.
