Thou hast also set up prophets, to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying: There is a king in Judea. The king will hear of these things. Therefore come now, that we may take counsel together.

And, behold, now Adonias reigneth, and thou, my lord the king, knowest nothing of it.


Because he is gone down to-day, and hath killed oxen, and fatlings, and many rams, and invited all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. And they are eating and drinking before him, and saying: God save king Adonias:


And let Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. And you shall sound the trumpet, and shall say: God save king Solomon.


And he conferred with Joab the son of Sarvia, and with Abiathar the priest, who furthered Adonias's side.


It is reported amongst the Gentiles, and Gossem hath said it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel; and therefore thou buildest the wall and hast a mind to set thyself king over them. For which end


And I sent to them, saying: There is no such thing done as thou sayest: but thou feignest these things out of thy own heart.


Now therefore do you with the council signify to the tribune, that he bring him forth to you, as if you meant to know something more certain touching him. And we, before he come near, are ready to kill him.
