And the king said to Sadoc the priest: O seer, return into the city in peace: and let Achimaas thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar, your two sons, be with you.
And there are with them their two sons Achimaas the son of Sadoc, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar: and you shall send by them to me every thing that you shall hear.
And Jonathan and Achimaas stayed by the fountain Rogel: and there went a maid and told them. And they went forward, to carry the message to king David, for they might not be seen, nor enter into the city.
And the watchman said: The running of the foremost seemeth to me like the running of Achimaas the son of Sadoc. And the king said: He is a good man; and cometh with good news.
And Adonias, and all that were invited by him, heard it, and now the feast was at an end. Joab also hearing the sound of the trumpet said: What meaneth this noise of the city in an uproar?
And Jonathan answered Adonias: Not so: for our lord king David hath appointed Solomon king.
