A gradual canticle. Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: that walk in his ways.
They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes.
The soul which blesseth, shall be made fat: and he that inebriateth, shall be inebriated also himself.
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud and as the garden causeth her seed to shoot forth: so shall the Lord God make justice to spring forth and praise before all the nations.
Having heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying: God then hath also to the Gentiles given repentance unto life.
And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, did hear: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to those things which were said by Paul.
Now a certain Jew, named Apollo, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus, one mighty in the scriptures.
AND it came to pass, while Apollo was at Corinth, that Paul having passed through the upper coasts, came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples.
Whom when he had saluted, he related particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
For I dare not to speak of any of those things which Christ worketh not by me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,
Now this I say, that every one of you saith: I indeed am of Paul; and I am of Apollo; and I am of Cephas; and I of Christ.
But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and justice, and sanctification, and redemption:
For all things are yours, whether it be Paul, or Apollo, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to some; for all are yours;
Therefore, neither he that planteth is any thing, nor he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
AM not I free? Am not I an apostle? Have not I seen Christ Jesus our Lord? Are not you my work in the Lord?
That Christ may dwell by faith in your hearts; that being rooted and founded in charity,
For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.
