11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.


Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man!


And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.


I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.


And I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind.


What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?


What gain has the worker from his toil?


He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.


This also is a grievous evil: just as he came, so shall he go, and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind?


Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?


But godliness with contentment is great gain,
