For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, with death let him die.'


From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go off to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised the third day.


You will be betrayed even by parents and relatives, friends and brothers; and they will put some of you to death.


The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify about it, that its works are evil.


For before these days, Theudas rose up, claiming himself to be someone, to whom was joined a number of men, about four hundred. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing.


Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and boast in God,


You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God through the transgression of the law?


Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. Through what law? Of works? No, but through the law of faith.


not boasting beyond the limits in the labors of others, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you according to our sphere of influence,


For I am afraid, lest perhaps when I come, I will not find you as I desire, and that I will be found by you as you do not desire; lest perhaps there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, disputes, slanders, gossipings, pride, disorders;


who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or every object of worship, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.


For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,


For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, being deceived, being enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.


Even so the tongue is a small member and it boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!


But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.


For when they speak haughty words of emptiness, they entice through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, those who are escaping from those who are living in error,


These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks puffed up words, flattering people to gain advantage.
