2 Now when they saw some of His disciples eat bread with ceremonially unclean, that is, with unwashed hands, they found fault.

"Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands whenever they eat bread."


Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but they eat bread with unwashed hands?"


And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before the meal.


and he said to them, "You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to associate with or to approach a Gentile; and yet God has shown to me that I should call no man common or unclean;


"But I said, 'By no means, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.'


I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself; except to him considering anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.


By how much worse punishment, do you think, will he be deemed worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, and has regarded as common the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?


But there shall by no means enter into it any common thing, and the one doing an abomination and a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
