42 Nevertheless even from among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be excommunicated;

"Therefore whoever who will confess Me before men, I also will confess Him before My Father who is in heaven.


"Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God.


And Pilate, having called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,


Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall exclude you, and shall revile you, and cast out your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.


Therefore many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and seeing the things Jesus did, believed in Him.


because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.


They will excommunicate you; but a time is coming when everyone who kills you will think that he is offering God a service.


After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus.


This man came to Him by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."


However, no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews.


But many of the crowd believed in Him, and were saying, "When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man did?"


These things his parents said because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone should confess that He was Christ, he would be excommunicated.


They answered and said to him, "You were completely born in sins, and do you teach us?" And they cast him out.


Then they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing because they were counted worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the name of Jesus.


For with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.


Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.


By this the Spirit of God is known: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
