For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."


and do not think to say among yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham out of these stones.


the oath which He swore to our father Abraham:


Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am suffering in this flame.'


And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if someone from the dead should go to them, they will repent.'


They answered and said to Him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.


"Are You greater than our father Abraham, who died? Also the prophets died. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?"


And he said, "Men, brothers and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,


Therefore by works of the law no flesh shall be justified in His sight, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.


What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh?


and the father of circumcision to those not only of circumcision, but also to those following in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while in uncircumcision.


Therefore it is of faith that it may be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those of the law, but also to those of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,


By faith Abraham, when he was tested, had offered up Isaac, and he that received the promises offered up his only begotten son,


But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by means of my works.


You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
