8 Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so Abraham begot Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs.

Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers.


Because of this Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.


"Men, brothers, let me speak with boldness to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.


How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.


Brothers, I speak in human fashion: A covenant is of a man, yet having been confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it.


And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul the covenant previously confirmed to Christ by God, so that it make the promise of no effect.


But observe how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth from the spoils.
