18 And also some of the Epicurean and of the Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. And some were saying, "What does this seed-picker wish to say?" But others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign deities," because he was preaching the good news of Jesus and the resurrection.

being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.


And daily in the temple, and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus the Christ.


But there arose some of the ones from the Synagogue which is called of the Freedmen, both of the Cyrenians, and the Alexandrians, and of the ones from Cilicia and Asia, debating with Stephen.


Professing to be wise, they became fools,


Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.


We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are despised!


Beware lest anyone captures you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
