15 Now after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the synagogue leaders sent to them, saying, "Men and brothers, if there is by you a word of encouragement for the people, speak."

And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus. And seeing Him, he fell at His feet


The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone enters forcibly into it.


Men, brothers; it was necessary for this Scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;


For those dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor the voices of the Prophets which are being read according to each Sabbath, condemning him, they fulfilled the Scriptures.


"For Moses has had from ancient generations those who proclaim him in each city, being read in the synagogues from one Sabbath to another."


And after much dispute, Peter arose and said to them: "Men, brothers, you know that from early days God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.


Then all the Greeks, taking hold of Sosthenes the ruler of the synagogue, were beating him before the judgment seat. And none of these things was a concern to Gallio.


And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, were believing and were being baptized.


"Men, brothers, let me speak with boldness to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.


Now having heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brothers, what shall we do?"


And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.


And going through those parts, and encouraging them with many words, he came to Greece


"Men, brothers and fathers, hear my defense to you now."


And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a Cyprian by nation,


And he said, "Men, brothers and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,


whether exhorting, in the exhortation; whether sharing, with simplicity; whether leading, with diligence; whether showing mercy, with cheerfulness.


But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort.


But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is removed in Christ.


For our exhortation was not from error nor from uncleanness, nor in trickery,


And I appeal to you, brothers, bear with the word of exhortation, for briefly I wrote to you.
