The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.


The clever see danger and hide; but the simple go on, and suffer for it.


Be wise, my child, and make my heart glad, so that I may answer whoever reproaches me.


Take the garment of one who has given surety for a stranger; seize the pledge given as surety for foreigners.

By faith Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith.


so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God would prove false, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us.


But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the godless.
