For they flatter themselves in their own eyes that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated.


Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to advice.


Sometimes there is a way that seems to be right, but in the end it is the way to death.


The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.


All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart.


if you say, “Look, we did not know this”— does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it? And will he not repay all according to their deeds?


There are those who are pure in their own eyes yet are not cleansed of their filthiness.


For human ways are under the eyes of the Lord, and he examines all their paths.


The way of the righteous is level; O Just One, you make smooth the path of the righteous.


I the Lord test the mind and search the heart, to give to all according to their ways, according to the fruit of their doings.


TEKEL, you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting;

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”


Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
